I'm Yahwave : Yah for the divine, wave for sound waves.
Music found me without warning. For years, before I ever touched a controller, I was just a listener soaking it in, not yet knowing what I was searching for. Somewhere in that stretch, Guy J (Guy Judah) entered my world, and I've been listening to him ever since. His music didn't just play in the background of my life it slowly rewired how I heard sound altogether.
That listening turned into digging. I went looking for the exact feeling his music gave me, and the search led me straight into progressive deep house a genre built on patience, where the elements layer in slowly and the drop is something you earn, not something handed to you.
The deeper I went, the more teachers I found along the way: Hernán Cattáneo, Patrice Bäumel, GMJ, Mike Rish, Kasper koman, Simon vuarambon and closer to home, India's own Sanjay Dutta, Praveen Achary, and Weird Sounding Dude. Each one taught me something different about how to build a groove and hold a room.
But it was Guy J who eventually pushed me from listener to DJ. I wanted to make people feel what his music made me feel to heal something in a room, to watch people let go and just move.
A year ago, I finally started, self taught, alongside my day job, training my ear one set at a time in that patient 120–125 BPM pocket where every layer has room to breathe. And that's the lesson progressive deep house has given me, on the decks and off: stay calm, hold the tension, and trust that the right moment to let it all go.
