Ōtautahi born and raised artist chole combines bass and techno, creating energetic spaces. Her sound encompasses European rave culture and incorporates Aotearoa’s infamous bush scene. Growing up in the 03, Chole was immersed in a vibrant arts community that encouraged exploration. Classical instruments at seven taught her the structures and theory behind music, laying a foundation that would later underpin her pulsing, 4×4-driven sets.

EP Her debut EP Photosynthesis is set to release on the 26th of June. The three tracker was inspired by the cycles of nature, entailing pulsing and growing rhythms rooted in 150bpm techno. Track 2 ‘Redox’ is an experimental soundscape that fuses trance with groove, recently premiering with Mixmag Au/NZ. The track balances driving techno with euphoric arps, and spinning percussion. The full EP will be available on all platforms next friday.

Beginning her DJ journey in 2023, chole has evolved from bedroom mixing to performing at some of NZ’s largest festivals. From Rolling Meadows and Hidden Lakes to Two Minds Festival, chole delivers vibrant sets that balance industrial drive with deep, hypnotic rhythm. Every waveform is hand-picked — rooted in 4x4, fast, groovy, stompy. It’s unapologetic. It’s physical. Recently releasing Berlin Techno Music, NZ’s BFC, Rooster Records and Host of Euro Freq Radio on RDU fm, chole is a driven conduit in the hard dance music scene.
