Lisa Cropp is a DJ, producer and label founder and one of the few artists who understands the medium of vinyl as a political and artistic tool. Her vinyl sets are deeply rooted in House, Minimal and Deep Techno, infused with Latin American influences, characterised by organic transitions and a conscious approach to sound as material.
Each of her performances is a physical act of listening, searching and connecting. DJing becomes a performance: not digitally routine, but physical, concentrated and full of friction. Lisa reads the energy in the room and builds her sets intuitively carried by the warmth of vinyl and the excitement of the unpredictable.
With her non-profit label L.A.U.T.H. (Latino América Unión de Techno & House), she combines music production with activist practice. This approach is also reflected in her vinyl sets: the records are often carefully curated with references to social movements, communities and alternative music scenes.
She sees music as a language without borders, as resistance, as healing, as tenderness. In her sets, she tries to open up spaces where people can lose themselves and find themselves again at the same time. DJing with records is performance and attitude – analogue, intuitive, political. She sees her work as a contribution to a music scene that reflects.
