A Conversation with Jessica Audiffred: Making EDM-Pumped Waves on Both Sides of the Border
Atwood Magazine: What was it like growing up in Mexico City? What sort of music and pop culture were you exposed to when you were young – including the genre you wound up pursuing the most later on, electronica? Jessica Audiffred: It was amazing. I’m grateful for my upbringing because I feel like growing up in Latin America gives you a sense of power in a way [and] makes your stronger. As far as music, I was highly influenced by MTV , music videos and pop/nu-metal. I immersed myself into the early electronic acts from the 2000s as a kid and I fell in love with music created in computers. Later in life, I would find my true love in dubstep as I felt like this combined both electronic and nu metal elements.
