Ivimusick was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay. At the end of 2019, he moved to Barcelona, drawn by its cultural richness, diversity, and strong artistic influence. However, he has been actively involved in the Uruguayan electronic scene since 1995, with a clear commitment to spreading dance culture. His deep passion for music, inline skating, and design led him from promoting and organizing events to writing columns for web portals, contributing articles to music fanzines, participating regularly in radio shows, and eventually achieving the coveted DJ residency. At the age of 8, he developed a profound connection with music, fascinated by a powerful sound system and the records played by his friend’s father (Luis Mario). During those years, artists like Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Camouflage, Eddy Grant, Michael Jackson, and Howard Jones shaped his taste, alongside the energetic rhythms of new wave and italo disco from Tulio De Piscopo, Silver Pozzoli, Gazebo, and My Mine. This early interest led him to start recording cassette tapes and begin his journey as a DJ at school parties and neighborhood birthdays—marking the beginning of a lasting love affair with music. Like many teenagers in Montevideo searching for identity, he became involved with alternative urban tribes, diving into extreme sports and the hip hop and breakdance scene with groups from the western area of the city such as Jazzy Mel, Sudacas en Guerra, La Teja Pride, Cossa Nostra, and Fun You Stupid, among others. At 16, he connected with club culture and began working as a PR for some of the best clubs and parties in the city (Xtasis, Milenio Dance Club, Spock, Metropolis, Neon, Gallery). As a natural progression, he moved into event production and organization alongside DJDetected and Agustín Claverol (ISAGAMU, El Ángel, El Quincho, Teadance at Hotel Plazafuerte Sarandí). With the rise of the internet, he joined the collective behind Uruguay’s first electronic music portal, www.radiomix.com.uy, documenting the local scene through audio and video between 2000 and 2006. At the same time, his DJ career continued to grow, performing at numerous clubs and events alongside some of the most important figures in the scene (Groovezone, Milenio, Rok, Plaza Cultural Eduardo Mateo, Gata Negra Gato Blanco, El Cubo Bar, Del Plata FM 95.5 (Play!), Divas Disco Glam Bar, MK1, Una Noche de Paz XFM, Taco de Reina, Pachamama, AFE Viene!, P.P.P, Tony Park, The Woods, Schizophrenia, Play!, El Palacio de la Luz, La Toma de la Bastilla, Amok Und Oma, Want Distortion, @Parade, Kazbah Bar, The Woods (Punta Espinillo), Parador Playa Pocitos, El Pony Pisador, Camparra (Barra de Maldonado), Funky, Dorkbot.Mvd (Subte MVD), Expo Tattoo INJU, Vudu Dance, KSI Club, 120Hz, The Roof, La Chacra Club House (Punta del Este), In the Woods (Parque Rivera), Escape House, El Living, Sinergia Design Fashion Week, Raveros, Electronisense, Al fin y al Cabo (Cabo Polonio), Bar Lola, B2B Producciones, Intimo Studio, Mush Room, Night of Museums at Cárcel de Miguelete (Alliance Française exhibition), La Nuit du Français (French Embassy), Espacio de Arte Ituzaingó, Caffetto (Atlántida), Revolver 6.0 Sinergia Design, L’Oréal Intercoiffeur International at Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel, After Office Midnight, 3rd Gastronomic Festival, and Aloha Garden (San José), among many others. In 2004, he strengthened his role in the local scene by joining collectives such as Saturalatoma, Nukah, and justrave.com, organizing events in some of the most unconventional locations in the city while also helping build Uruguay’s first blog dedicated to electronic music events. After graduating with a degree in graphic design and art, he relocated to Barcelona, performing at the New Year’s Eve party at Hotel La Garriga (Granollers). He later began working at the record store Dancing Vinyl (www.dancingvinyl.com), connecting with key figures in the local scene. This led to being recruited by the Milan-based Italian promoter Paradise Group for the Magicroom/&Friends events, where he has held an active role as resident DJ ever since. He is also part of the DJ-producer collective El Club del Funk and a resident DJ for Time Out! at Retro Future Disco Club events (La Terrrazza, Mint, Macarena, Sala Upload, Vraba Restaurant, hotel rooftops across Catalonia, etc.), sharing lineups with both local and international artists. Throughout his career, he has shared the stage with acclaimed DJs and producers such as Mathias Kaden, Sandy Rivera, Can Costa, Alci, Renato Lopez, Logiztiksounds, Marcelo Castelli, Zingabeat, Jacques, DJ Koolt, Fernando Picón, Eduardo Esquivel, Bruno Gervais, among others. His performances span renowned clubs, bars, and events including Milenio, Plaza Mateo, La Terrrazza, Brunch Elektronic Festival, Bridge 48, Sala Upload, and La Textil Collective. His musical influences draw from Detroit for its experimental and emotional depth, as well as Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, and Paris for disco, funk, and house. As a true music lover, his background also includes acid jazz, bossa nova, pop, rock, new wave, downtempo, R&B, and sample-based hip hop, adapting his selections to each event. Currently, his sets are a refined recipe blending jazz and disco over a solid house foundation, slowly cooked with touches of funk and soul best served hot and enjoyed close to the speakers.
