Materia Prima

Materia Prima is a Cameroon-born Afro House DJ, producer and creative artist based in Madrid, Spain.

Rooted in African culture and driven by a passion for storytelling, his project goes far beyond the traditional DJ format. Through music, travel, visual content and cultural exploration, Materia Prima is building a distinctive artistic universe where Afro House, Afro Tech, fashion, identity and emotion converge.

His sound blends deep African influences, hypnotic rhythms and melodic electronic textures, creating immersive journeys designed for both the dancefloor and the soul. His original productions explore themes of connection, movement, resilience and cultural heritage.

Recent releases such as Freedom Ritual and Loyalty, alongside upcoming projects like Delayed Flight and Safari, showcase different dimensions of his artistic vision. Delayed Flight transforms a real delayed-flight announcement recorded by the artist into an emotional musical journey, while Safari merges contemporary Afro House with powerful African vocals to create a deeply moving listening experience.

Beyond the studio and the club, Materia Prima has developed a unique content strategy by performing and creating visual stories in unconventional locations: African markets, cultural spaces, cafés, natural landscapes, traditional environments and places connected to his travels across Europe, Africa and Asia. This approach has become a defining element of his identity and a way of reconnecting electronic music with culture and human stories.

His artistic journey has taken him through countries including Spain, Morocco, Thailand and Cameroon, where he has recently been collecting traditional sounds, collaborating with local musicians and researching cultural influences that will shape his forthcoming afrofuturistic mini-album.

With a growing international vision, Materia Prima aims to become a global ambassador for a new generation of Afro House artists — one that connects African roots with contemporary electronic culture while creating meaningful experiences through music, storytelling and creative expression.
