ZHAT — OFFICIAL BIOGRAPHY English
ZHAT is a Colombian DJ and producer from Cali whose evolving sound sits at the intersection of groove, emotion and club culture. He describes his current musical direction as Indie Tech: a sound that brings together the freedom and character of indie dance, the energy of electronic club music and the rhythmic DNA of house, disco, funk and Afro-Latin music.
Coming from Cali — a city intrinsically connected to rhythm, percussion and dance — ZHAT has built an artistic identity in which electronic music feels both global and deeply personal. His productions are driven by groove but rarely confined to one genre, moving through house, deep house, funky and disco influences, indie dance and more hypnotic electronic territories.
That rhythmic identity also defines his performances. ZHAT frequently incorporates **live percussion into his DJ sets**, creating a more organic dialogue between electronic production, improvisation and the dancefloor.
His catalogue has grown steadily through releases including When The Claps Starts, One of Those Nights (11:11), Macondo, Dream About U (Gospel Dreams), Shinita, It's Been Too Long, I Met U, Mirage, Magoo, Gaulois Midnight, Que Rico, RESET, The Other Side, El Mito, Down To The River, Patti, Pats, Hey Hey, Waiting For No One, Runaway, Much More, TIKTAK, How I Feel (Lalalalala), DAYS N DAYS and Asperfisica, among others.
That body of work is increasingly translating into measurable audience growth. As of September 2026, ZHAT's Spotify for Artists dashboard shows **more than 700,000 streams across the releases currently displayed in his catalogue**.
Several records have become clear milestones. Échele Ritmo (Deluxe) has surpassed 148,000 Spotify streams**, while the original Échele Ritmo album has exceeded 143,000. The standalone release of HOPE has reached more than 136,000 streams, making it one of the strongest-performing releases of ZHAT's career so far, while When The Claps Starts has generated more than 77,000 streams.
A second group of records demonstrates the depth of the catalogue: Magoo and Dream About U have each passed 17,000 streams; It's Been Too Long has exceeded 16,000; When The Clap Starts (Rework) and El Mito have surpassed 15,000; Waiting For No One has crossed 14,000; and Hey Hey, I Met U and Runaway are all above 11,000 streams.
At the center of ZHAT's current chapter is his creative partnership with Crabeats.
Together they created Échele Ritmo, an album conceived as much more than a collection of tracks. Released in 2026, the project explores their shared relationship with groove, house music, percussion and the culture surrounding the dancefloor through tracks including How I Feel (Lalalalala), Échele Ritmo, TIKTAK, GOD DAMN, B2B (Bombay To Babylon), I'll Be There and HOPE.
The project later expanded into Échele Ritmo (Deluxe), presenting extended versions designed to bring the album even closer to its natural environment: DJ sets and club culture. Remarkably, the Deluxe edition has already moved slightly ahead of the original album in Spotify activity, with 148K+ streams compared with 143K+ for the original release, showing that the project has continued to grow beyond its initial campaign.
But Échele Ritmo was deliberately created to exist outside streaming as well.
ZHAT and Crabeats produced a limited vinyl edition of only 33 numbered copies, transforming the album into a physical object and reconnecting the project with the culture from which DJing originated. The vinyl campaign included listening sessions, performances and cultural activations in Cali, while 50% of the proceeds from the vinyl initiative were committed back to the city.
Among the album's tracks, HOPE has become a defining record for this period of ZHAT's career. Its standalone release alone has generated 136,000+ streams on Spotify, while the song continued gaining exposure through both the original and Deluxe editions of Échele Ritmo. Its combination of warmth, groove and emotional immediacy has made it one of the clearest examples of the connection ZHAT seeks between music and audience.
Another important step in that evolution is DAYS N DAYS, created with Tchakomi and F-MACK. Released in both its original club version and a Radio Edit, the track represents a newer side of ZHAT's sound and is beginning to generate encouraging early audience response. More importantly, it points toward where the project is heading: vocal-driven, rhythmic and emotionally direct electronic music with a strong club foundation.
Beyond his own releases, ZHAT is the founder of ALAMMEDA Music and co-founder of Miracali Records, extending his work from artist to cultural and creative entrepreneur. His collaborations with artists including Crabeats, Gian Derek, Juan Kordoba, Tchakomi, F-MACK, KORUBBA and others reflect a philosophy based on collaboration, community and the development of an electronic music ecosystem originating in Cali.
Today, ZHAT is entering perhaps the clearest stage of his artistic identity yet. Years of house, deep, disco, funk, indie and Afro-Latin influences are converging into what he calls Indie Tech: groove-driven electronic music with personality, emotion and a strong connection to the dancefloor — created in Cali, but designed to travel far beyond it.
