Xenis

I'm Xenis, a DJ and music producer from Barcelona. I'm 26 years old and music has been part of my life since I was a teenager. My project was born from the union between my piano training, my passion for production and the desire to share music with other people. I create my own songs, work as a producer for other artists and enjoy taking my musical selection to the booth, where I move mainly between afro house, house, chill and tropical house.

I started playing the piano around the age of 15 or 16. It was my first way to really get closer to music and to discover everything that a melody can convey. Little by little I became interested in chords, harmonies and the way songs are constructed. That foundation is still very present in what I do today: I like songs that have personality, that manage to arouse emotion and that leave more than just a catchy rhythm. The piano continues to be an important part of my way of understanding and creating music.

At the age of 19 I started producing. I wanted to transform my ideas into songs and explore how to combine melodies with electronic sounds. Since then I have been developing my style, trying different genres and learning with each project. I am especially interested in that meeting point between electronic music and songs with their own structure and identity: a voice that catches you, a chord progression that excites or a chorus that you want to listen to again. I want my productions to have both sensitivity and energy.

I currently work in a record label as a producer of artists, a facet that allows me to participate in projects with different voices, styles and ways of working. I enjoy listening to what each artist wants to express and looking for a production that accompanies their personality. For me, producing is also about knowing how to listen, share ideas and find the right direction for a song together. Working with other musicians helps me to broaden my perspective and continue to grow, both creatively and personally.

Throughout my career I have collaborated with very talented artists from Catalonia and I have made remixes of songs by some well-known groups on the Spanish scene. These are experiences that have allowed me to approach other ways of composing and reinterpreting songs from my own language. I like the challenge of preserving what makes a song special and, at the same time, giving it another character through rhythm, sounds and production. Each collaboration provides me with resources and ideas that are later also reflected in my project as Xenis.

My songs have been signed by several major record labels and accumulate thousands of plays on Spotify and other digital platforms. Seeing that a song that started as an idea ends up reaching people from different places is one of the things that motivates me the most to continue. In addition to the releases already released, I have a wide repertoire of original music and new songs pending release. I am constantly creating and developing my own material, with the intention that my project continues to evolve and each release has something to tell.

As a DJ, I particularly enjoy afro house and house, but also the more relaxed sounds of chill, ambient music and tropical house. I'm drawn to moving percussions, warm melodies, pianos and vocals that bring emotion. I can enjoy both a soft selection that accompanies a conversation or a sunset and a session with more rhythm. What I want is for the music to make sense in the moment it plays and for people to feel comfortable listening to it.

I understand a session as a journey in which each song contributes something to the whole. I like to take care of the selection and evolution of energy, giving space to the quietest moments and making the rhythm grow when the atmosphere demands it. My approach is especially suited to terraces, hotels, spaces by the sea, private events and proposals where music plays an important role in the experience. I am interested in knowing the style of each event in order to prepare a selection consistent with the space, the time and the type of audience.

Production and DJing complement each other within my project. Creating my own songs allows me to bring a very personal side to the sessions and combine my songs with music from other artists that inspires me. At the same time, thinking about how music is experienced outside the studio gives me new ideas when it comes to producing. I like that there is that connection between what I compose and what I share from the booth, and continue to build an identity that is recognized in both facets.

I am open to proposals for DJ sessions, events and musical collaborations. I am excited about projects in which I can contribute my musical taste, my experience as a producer and my way of understanding music.
