Ugly Cat

Ugly Cat is the alter ego of Fidel Hernández, a producer and DJ originally from Mexico City, with a career spanning more than two decades in the electronic music scene. Their sound fuses progressive house and indie dance, constantly exploring new directions within these genres.

Before launching Ugly Cat, Fidel was the mastermind behind Velika Music, a project with which he toured Mexico and Central America, performing in the best clubs and festivals, and earning recognition in media such as DJ Mag Spain (print version), Vice and radio stations in Spain, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico.

Under the alias Ugly Cat, he has released music on renowned labels such as Critical Elements, Bonzai Progressive, Nebular Tunes, Aletheia Recordings, YHV Records, Electric Eden and several more. Currently, he is a permanent artist on the prestigious label Awen Records. In addition, he actively collaborates with Coss Bocanegra, one of the most prominent producers on the Mexican scene.

His experience has led him to be a resident in clubs throughout the Mexican Republic, including Hookah Condesa, Coyote Playa del Carmen, Amapola Tulum, Marina 33 Valle de Bravo among others. Their presentations are in DJ set format and are a bomb for the dance floor.

At the same time, Ugly Cat is a key player in the dissemination of the electronic scene through its spaces Citric Waves (radio show in London) and Waves NPI (interview podcast), where it has had renowned guests within the Latin American and Iberian scene.
