TJAROSUPERSTAR
TJAROSUPERSTAR is a South African DJ and creative force from Atteridgeville, Pretoria, whose sound and identity are deeply rooted in kasi culture and the diverse musical landscape of South Africa.
Born in Kwa-Thema, Springs, and raised in Atteridgeville (Pheli), Pretoria, TJAROSUPERSTAR developed a passion for music from a young age. At just 7 years old, he was already compiling playlists, developing an instinct for music selection and sequencing that would eventually become the foundation of his career.
At 12, he began experimenting with DJ software, initially using AtomixMP3 before progressing to VirtualDJ. His curiosity soon expanded beyond DJing, and during high school he began exploring music production through FL Studio, giving him a deeper understanding of the relationship between music production, performance and audience experience.
A defining moment in his musical journey came on New Year’s Day 2016, when he was inspired by the work and sound of South African DJ DJ Clock in Kwa-Thema. The experience strengthened his belief that DJing could be more than simply playing records — it could be a way of telling stories, creating memories and connecting people.
Musically, TJAROSUPERSTAR’s sound draws from the rich foundations of AmaPiano, Kwaito and Hip-Hop, while remaining open to the broader sounds and influences that have shaped South African youth culture. His sets are built around energy, nostalgia and discovery, creating an experience that can move effortlessly between different generations and musical styles.
His creative work extends beyond the DJ booth. TJAROSUPERSTAR has been involved in developing curated musical experiences and projects such as “Sounds from Home: A Jazz & Dance Compilation,” reflecting his appreciation for both South Africa’s musical heritage and its evolving contemporary sound.
With a growing identity as both a DJ and cultural curator, TJAROSUPERSTAR represents a generation of South African creatives who use music, fashion, nightlife and culture as tools for expression.
From Kwa-Thema to Pheli, from playlists created at seven to performing for audiences today, TJAROSUPERSTAR’s journey is ultimately about one thing: creating sounds that feel like home.
