Juan Manuel Tobeña is a native of Huesca, northern Spain, so his sound is a mixture of varied musical styles always combined with taste and musicality, so that the track enjoys.
His beginnings in the 90s in small local venues were influenced by the styles he lived from the dance floor, with Coliseum and Florida 135 with their resident DJs being the main ones, although at that time there was a local circuit of clubs with DJs with a high level and musical varieties. These ranged from the most classic Valencian Bakalao with techno pop touches, to its variants of Catalan machine at many bpm, through Trance and Hard Trance that came from the Basque Country, American Hard House, Spanish Hard Dance, and the Dance and Eurodance of the 90s. This meant that in the sessions, usually all night long, there were mixes of very powerful rhythms that were not very linear and energetic, where trancer melodies merged with Newstyle sounds or Bumping bass drums alternated with Jumpstyle without any problem to have a good time. In Florida 135 I found something else, a purer techno more club, in which Jeff Mills, or Franchesco Farfa, among others, set the tone with other types of rhythms. Later, by living in Madrid, he learned first-hand about another "Makinero" style and cantaditas typical of the center and the lower part of the east, mixing Cantaditas with Poky, and a less spidic and more vocal style, with clubs such as Radical de Alcalá de Henares as the maximum exponent. Although nowadays all this "Remember" sound is part of his life and in one way or another it is always present in his sessions, Hardgroove and Techno Peak Time are the styles that define him the most. Always without losing those combinations that he always lived that enrich the session and surprise, with contemporary vocal styles or some classic. Most of the events he holds are at private parties or with groups looking for something exclusive that is not found in conventional clubs with more commercial music following fashions and with a non-specialized audience. Also in Marbella in "Locos" doing all night longs and bringing together an audience looking for bpm,s and rhythm to dance the night away without getting bored.
The love for so much musical genre makes the effort to give the dance floor what it is looking for to be the main thing, pulling from one style or another to the delight of the attendees, enjoying the twists and surprises of the session, thus connecting, always from the beginning, with the dance floor. He likes long sessions where he develops a complete musical story, so that the audience of all ages can feel like the protagonist and can enjoy the music and rhythm without resorting to shows alien to the objective purpose of a dance floor; dance and enjoy the rhythm, without having to look at who does what to continue stealing the show from the main protagonist; the music.
Currently, residency projects are being consolidated in some clubs to reach more audiences and in a more continuous way a musical style and a philosophy of classic partying, where you go out to enjoy, not to be aware of the mobile, the RRSS and posturing, where the Who is not so important as the What and the How.
