Full bio

Behind the TattarrattaT project stands musician and composer Roman Wave. Roman Has 15 years of experience in creating music and sound design for video-games. Also he had various music projects in different music styles like post-rock, live looping one-man-band, electronic and experimental music. Roman graduated from University of West London as a music producer and sound technology specialist, as well he studied jazz piano and music theory at music college and graduated as a painter before.

The purpose of creating TattarrattaT project was in rethinking techno music as an art. In experimenting with different gear and ideas of sound design Roman came to interesting combination of modular and acoustic sound with focus on textural layering. The purpose of this setup is to create complex and deep sound with dark and ritual atmosphere to achieve a new experience in communication with listeners. The idea for the name of the project comes from sequencer mode bouncing back and forth, like cancrizans in polyphony, so it creates palindrome. So, "TattarrattaT" is the longest palindrome and means the rhythmical sound of knocking (at the door).

The important part of the project is improvisation. It makes the music spontaneous, non-predictive and more adaptive to the mood of the audience.
