Originally from Northern Quebec, Sumatra has long called Montreal home, immersing himself in the city’s underground rave culture. Active in music since 2012, he spent years experimenting and producing in the shadows before deciding to release his early work and commit fully to his craft. Deeply invested in Montreal’s hard techno scene, his sound channels raw energy, relentless rhythms, and industrial intensity. Sumatra is shaped by the city’s rave culture, driven by a passion for uncompromising Schranz & Techno.

Sumatra is a Hard Techno producer and DJ whose journey began in 2012. What started as a creative outlet and personal passion has grown into a powerful artistic pursuit defined by intensity, precision, and raw emotion.

After years of producing music privately, a close friend and fellow producer encouraged him to share his unreleased catalog. The response was immediate. His early releases on SoundCloud quickly gained attention, and his second release broke into the Beatport Top 100, where it stayed for weeks and peaked at number 6.

This success opened new doors, including a record deal with DSR Digital for his debut EP.

Specializing in Hard Techno and particularly Schranz, Sumatra’s sound blends industrial energy with hypnotic rhythm, offering a distinctive voice in a niche genre that is experiencing a global resurgence. With several completed tracks ready for release, he is now seeking strategic support to bring his music to a wider audience through booking, promotion, and artistic development.
