Niko Flores "Siniko" is a DJ and producer born in Chile and based in Mexico. His artistic identity is born from having lived practically half of his life in each country and from the connection between two cultures that have profoundly marked his way of understanding music, partying and urban culture.
With almost 10 years behind the turntables, Siniko has built her experience from different spaces and scenes, until she began to develop her project professionally during the last year. Rather than being defined by a specific genre, his proposal is based on an idea: music can coexist without borders.
Their selection moves between Hip-hop, Dancehall, Reggaeton, Dembow, Perreo and club sounds, taking elements from different scenes to build dynamic, versatile and track-focused sets. This way of understanding music has a strong influence from the Chilean urban scene, where different genres and musical cultures meet, dialogue and are constantly transformed.
For Siniko, urban music is not a closed category. It is a territory of encounter.
During his last trip to Chile he had a deeper approach with DJs and artists from the Santiago scene, an experience that had an important influence on the development of his project. The contact with different ways of selecting, mixing and understanding music reaffirmed a concern that was already present in him: to be able to play what he really likes without feeling obliged to belong to a single genre or scene.
That freedom is one of Siniko's pillars.
Her musical proposal seeks to generate a balance between memory and discovery. On the one hand, to rescue songs that are part of moments, festivals and generations; on the other, to present new music, emerging sounds and proposals that are not yet part of the collective imagination of the track.
A Siniko set can start from hip hop, go through dancehall, meet reggaeton and end in perreo or in sounds closer to the club. The connection is not determined by a label, but by the energy, timing, and response of the audience.
It is not a matter of mixing genres for the sake of mixing them. It is about finding the point where everyone can live together.
CAREER
Although his experience behind turntables dates back almost a decade, during the last year Siniko has taken his project towards a professional stage, developing a more defined artistic identity and actively participating both as a DJ and producer.
She has presented her proposal in Mexico City, Toluca and Yucatán, participating in different events and spaces of the independent and underground scene.
In Yucatan he has performed in spaces such as La Mezcalería Fundación, El Gato and Acervo Mezcalero, among others, building a presence within the local scene.
He has also shared the bill with DJ Sueño, participating in an event that brought together different expressions of urban music and perreo.
Your tour isn't limited to the cockpit. Siniko has also found in event production a way to develop her artistic vision and build spaces for the music she represents.
XEK
Siniko is the founder of XEK, an underground events platform from which he develops and produces experiences around music, club culture and independent proposals.
Through XEK he has worked on the creation of events such as Sueño, Noche Negra and Pulpa, getting involved not only in the musical selection, but also in the conceptualization, production and construction of an experience around each event.
This facet as a producer is an important part of his identity. For Siniko, being a DJ doesn't just mean playing music: it also means creating spaces where that music can exist and connect with an audience.
LET THEM COOK
Siniko also participates as a DJ in Déjalos Cocina, a project related to hip hop culture.
This experience connects directly with one of the most important roots of its proposal and expands its relationship with urban culture beyond the club and the dance floor.
Hip hop represents a fundamental part of his way of approaching music: the selection, the sampling, the mixing of references, the DJ culture and the ability to turn different influences into his own identity.
CHILE × MEXICO
Siniko's identity is crossed by two places.
Chile and Mexico do not appear only as places of origin or residence, but as two scenes and cultures that have influenced their way of understanding music.
From Chile it takes a deep relationship with hip hop and with an urban scene where reggaeton, dancehall, rap and other sounds coexist. From Mexico he takes new references, audiences, spaces and a diverse scene that continues to expand his perspective.
The result is not intended to be a reproduction of either scene.
It is a personal interpretation.
Siniko seeks to build a meeting point between both experiences and take it to the track.
A PROPOSAL WITHOUT LIMITS
At a time when musical genres are increasingly connected, Siniko understands music selection as a tool to break boundaries.
He does not seek to be only a reggaeton, hip hop, dancehall or electronic DJ.
He seeks to be Siniko.
Their proposal is based on the freedom of being able to play a song because it works, because it has a story, because it represents something or simply because it generates a reaction on the track.
For this reason, his sets can move between different genres and eras without losing a clear direction: to make people dance, surprise and generate connection.
His philosophy can be summarized in three concepts:
GENDERLESS. WITHOUT PREJUDICE. NO LIMITS.
NEWS
Currently, Siniko continues to develop its project from Mérida, Yucatán, while expanding its presence to other cities in Mexico and Chile.
Its objective is to connect with clubs, bars, collectives, artists and independent promoters who share an open vision of urban music and underground culture.
As a DJ, he seeks to bring to each space a proposal that is adaptable to the context, but without losing its identity. As a producer, he continues to create events and platforms where different scenes can meet.
Siniko represents a generation that doesn't need to choose between genders.
You can listen to hip hop and perrear. You can dance dancehall and then enter a club. He can recover a classic and, in the next song, present something that no one knows.
Because for Siniko, labels serve to order music, but not to limit it.
