On April 1, 2024, three young people from Quito —David, Roberto and Oscar— who met in the classrooms of the Montúfar School, decided to form this group with the same dream: to honor, preserve and disseminate the richness of Ecuador's Andean musical heritage. Shortly after, Jordan Analuisa joined, completing the current line-up. The name Shunku Yanantin comes from our native Kichwa language and means Andean Heart: it represents union, deep feeling and love for our land, our roots and our culture. We are the new generation of folklore: young people who sing and play with their souls, taking tradition to new stages, with respect for the past and looking to the future.
