ronnnawayyy is one of Auckland’s most versatile rising DJs. Proudly Filipino-Kiwi, he plays with zero fear of crossing genres: one minute it’s a rolling House groove, the next a Hip-Hop/R&B edit, a swung-out UK Garage or 140 cut, or a full-throttle run of Jungle and DnB. Global sounds, Dubstep and Trap are always in the mix too, which means dancefloors never get comfortable and never stop moving.

His breakout came in 2024 as a Your Shot NZ finalist, a DJ competition and training program for new DJs originating in Australia. He has kept the momentum going ever since, lighting up rooms across the country, from the Mardi Gras Afterparty in Queenstown to BASSMENT’s Local Roll Call 12 and 13, the grassroots showcase where Auckland’s local DJs are trusted to play exactly what they love.

His reach beyond the club has followed. ronnnawayyy has taken his sound to the airwaves with a guest mix on Bassment Radio on George FM Nights, hosted by Henri and Beccie B, laying down Garage and Dub. He has been filmed for Bassment TV, and spotlighted in Odd Sundays, a series celebrating upcoming DJ talent from across New Zealand, with a Jungle and Liquid DnB set.

The opening slots read like a bass music wish list. ronnnawayyy has opened for dubstep heavyweight Virtual Riot (US), and in March 2026 he supported international bass talents IRAH (UK) and IsGwan (AUS) at Pointers in Auckland, a night of drum and bass, UK Garage and bass music in one of the city’s most intimate club spaces. IRAH’s dancehall-flavoured vocals have made him one of the most recognisable voices in modern drum and bass, while IsGwan moves through UKG, jungle and breakbeat-driven club sounds, a bill made for a DJ who lives between all of those worlds.

Not every set is about heat. His mixes stretch from chilled R&B, Amapiano and Hip-Hop edits (Matcha and Tunes) to an Afrobeats and R&B session recorded in Makati, Philippines, and a Baile Funk, UKG and global club selection, proof that the same ear for energy works at every tempo and every time of night.

With an ear for energy and a style that’s impossible to pin down, ronnnawayyy crafts moments that stick with you long after the lights come up.
