ROGGEN – DJ & Artist Bio

Hans Roggen is a full-time commercial photographer who has recently expanded his creative world to include another great passion: music and DJing. Performing under the name ROGGEN, he brings together his eye for imagery, atmosphere and composition with a deep love for electronic music.

Originally from Groningen and now based in Utrecht, the Netherlands, he has always been drawn to storytelling. In his photography, he tells stories through light, colour and capturing the right moment. Behind the decks, he approaches music in much the same way. Rather than simply playing a collection of tracks, he builds sets that gradually unfold, creating space for emotion, tension, surprise and flow.

What started out as playing at friends' parties has grown into an ambition to bring his sound to the festival stage. Since 2025, he has been one of the resident DJs on Ibiza Stardust Radio, playing a monthly set during the weekend. His set Ascension made it into the top three most-voted-for sets in August.

He moves between deep house, progressive house and melodic house, with sets that evolve as the evening progresses. As the night goes on, the energy rises, the tempo picks up and the sound moves towards a deeper, groovy more driving techno beat. There's often an unexpected or slightly rough edge to the tracks he plays. Something that catches your attention, makes you look up, and then slowly pulls you into the groove.

His style is all about timing, progression and atmosphere. From a warm, melodic opening to a set that draws you further into the night, ROGGEN enjoys reading the room and building on the energy of the moment. Just as in his photography, it's not only about what you hear or see, but above all about how it makes you feel.

Behind the turntables he looks for the same feeling, but with music. Not a loose collection of tracks, but a set that develops gradually, in which tension is built up and there is room for emotion, surprise and flow.

He moves between deep house, progressive house and melodic house, with sets that develop further over the course of the evening. As the night progresses, the tempo is allowed to increase and the melodic depth makes way for a sturdier, more propulsive, but always groovy techno. There is often something unexpected or a raw edge to the tracks he plays. Something that grabs your attention, puts you on edge for a moment and then slowly takes you into the groove.
