Ricky Vega

Johannesburg DJ, producer, and event curator Ricky Vega, real name Zibusiso Sithole brings over a decade and a half of musical authority to South Africa’s electronic music landscape. Positioned at the intersection of Deep House sophistication and Afro Tech intensity, his signature sound combines dark atmospheric textures, driving basslines, and hypnotic African polyrhythms. Ricky Vega’s journey began in 2009, honing his craft behind the decks at local house parties and street bashes. Driven by crowd study and early inspiration from Culoe De Song, Louie Vega, Franky Feliciano, Shimza, Lars Behrenroth, Skizzy and Resident Endala, he transitioned into full-time professional DJing in 2015, expanding his work through affiliations with BSS and Deeper Sound Prophecy. His natural ability to read dancefloors quickly established him as a premier talent across Gauteng and South African venues. On September 1, 2016, Ricky Vega secured a benchmark residency at Emthunzini Lifestyle in Rosettenville, one of the region’s premier pub, club, and lifestyle destinations. Recognizing his sharp pulse on nightlife culture and operational expertise, he advanced into the role of Entertainment Curator, overseeing event curation, brand partnerships, and talent booking while remaining the venue's core resident DJ. Throughout his career, Ricky Vega has graced the billings of iconic venues, including Truth Night Club, And Club, The Nest, and News Cafe, and featured on high-profile festival lineups like Deja Vu, One Night Stand, Deep in Africa Album launch, and Decade Of House just to name few. A landmark career moment included sharing the event lineup for the 2021 Southside Deep House Festival. Over the years, he has shared event billings with South African industry legends such as Vini Da Vinci, Christos, Latique, Salvador, Lady Sakhe, Salvador, Cilongo, Solidchild, Dj Tumza, Skip SA, Tebza De Soul, and Chronical Deep, to name a few. From curating major venue experiences to releasing original music on global streaming platforms and Bandcamp including tracks like "With You (Main Mix)", "Callanish", and the dark underground project "Dystopia". Ricky Vega delivers an authentic, high-impact sonic experience built for dancefloors nationwide.
