I'm reallyrasta, a Nairobi-based DJ and creative whose first love is electronic music, especially house and techno. My sets move between deep, hypnotic grooves and the rawer, harder edge of techno, with detours through Afro house, melodic house, minimal, electro and trance.
Music came early. Through my teenage years I studied classical violin and flute, and that training still shapes how I build a set: listening for melody, tension and release, and treating a transition as a phrase rather than a switch.
The name is older than the decks. reallyrasta has been my handle since my teens, and the brand behind my early music and film production and cinematography. The booth is the latest chapter in that creative practice, and it carries the same eye for mood and storytelling.
My taste is wide. Alongside the house and techno, you'll hear me play UK garage, amapiano, kwaito and phonk, plus hip-hop, drill, grime, R&B, Afrobeats and East African sounds like gengetone and bongo flava.
