Rasgra is a beatmaker and producer originally from Mexico City. His career within hip hop began in the mid-2010s, developing around the culture of sampling, independent production and the creation of collective projects. Their sound is characterized by the exploration of samples of soul, jazz and Latin rhythms, with a marked inclination towards warm, relaxed and psychedelic atmospheres.
In 2014 he began to publish material formally. That year he participated with his group Estado Natural in a demo for MilVokales Records, while developing a parallel solo project under the name of El León En Su Cautiverio. These early works laid the foundations for a career that over time would move more and more towards music production.
In 2015 he founded Las Voces del Cautiverio (LVDC), an independent label from which he began to develop his own identity and work on different hip hop projects. That same year he participated in the creation of ESNA Crew, a collective with which he began to publish various singles and collaborations.
Between 2016 and 2017 he worked on the production of Natural State Of Mind, Estado Natural's album in which he made the beats. The project is recorded at The Roar HomeStudio, under the direction of Hantrack Q.E.D. During this period he also created the project Of The Mind Beats together with PolB-R, focused on the production and development of different musical works. Within this stage he published the demo De lo Clásico a lo Mío and, in 2016, he also presented Cuestión de Tiempo, again through MilVokales Records.
In 2018 he continues to develop his work with Estado Natural and participates in the production of the album RasHarp, published through Las Voces del Cautiverio. At the same time, he maintains his collaboration with ESNA Crew through different singles and participates in a collaboration with Konducta Beats.
During 2019 he maintains a constant production mainly through singles and collaborations, continuing with the development of his sound and consolidating his work as a producer.
2020 represents a particularly important stage in his career. With Estado Natural he participated in the creation of the EP Suspiros and in RasHarp Vol. 2: Zarapes, Micros y Sombreros. That same year, under the name of Rasgra, he published his first beat tape, The Beats Of My Mind, giving greater prominence to his facet as a beatmaker. He also participated in the creation of Espina Dorsal, expanding its production catalog. During this stage, the projects began to be developed under the seal of Las Voces del Cautiverio.
In parallel to their collective work, Rasgra begins to consolidate a discography increasingly focused on instrumental production. In 2021 he participates again in ESNA Crew material and publishes with Jvggvr the EP Yoga y Yerbas. That same year he presented his second beat tape, The Adventure Of A Soul. It also marks the end of an important stage by leaving Estado Natural and concentrating on new paths as an independent producer.
In 2022 it continues to expand its catalog. He releases the EP Gris with Freed ML and presents his third beat tape, Sweet Stay. In addition, he participates as a producer in the album Dramas de Cruda by Alfonso Dimebag, deepening his work behind other artists and developing an increasingly comprehensive vision of music production.
In 2023 he concludes the stage of Of The Mind Beats and publishes Goodbye Of The Mind, an instrumental EP that works as the closing of that creative chapter. This period also represents a transition to a stage in which Rasgra begins to concentrate more and more on his own projects and selected collaborations.
During 2024 and 2025 he continues to release singles and collaborations. Among these works stands out the EP 9:15, made with Frank Rvssell. In 2025 he also participates in the EP Fuego by Alex Re, producing the beats. Through these collaborations he maintains a constant presence within the independent scene and continues to expand his experience as a producer.
In 2026 he collaborates again with Alex Re in the production of the beats of Chilling and presents Semanario, one of his most personal projects to date.
Semanario was born as a love and hate letter to routine. The project transforms different moments of everyday life into music and brings together many of the elements that have defined Rasgra's identity over the years: sampling, boom bap, soul, jazz, Latin music and a sensibility marked by nostalgia and contemplation. More than portraying extraordinary events, the project finds its identity in what happens every day.
Throughout more than a decade of activity, Rasgra has built a catalog that includes his own projects, beat tapes, albums, EPs, singles and collaborations. His work is not limited to the creation of beats: he has also participated in production, mixing and mastering processes, developing a comprehensive perspective on the construction of a musical project.
From his early works with Estado Natural and MilVokales Records, through the creation of Las Voces del Cautiverio, ESNA Crew and Of The Mind Beats, to his most recent works such as Rasgra, his career has been characterized by a constant search for identity and evolution.
He currently continues to work independently, developing new projects and exploring the possibilities of hip hop and sample-based production, while expanding his language towards new sounds and collaborations.
