Orion Zinc

Orion Zinc is a DJ and African electronic music producer from Kampala, Uganda. His sound is rooted in deep, percussive rhythms and melodic elements, creating sets that take listeners on a musical journey while remaining accessible beyond traditional house music audiences. His journey began in 2012, when he started experimenting with VirtualDJ. In 2018, he began recording DJ sets as a bedroom DJ, gradually developing his skills, musical taste and understanding of DJing. His musical foundation was shaped by growing up listening to Disco and later discovering House music. As a teenager, he explored Dubstep, heavily inspired by artists such as Skrillex, while also drawing inspiration from the DJ sets and productions of artists including Hardwell, Avicii and Armin van Buuren. After graduating from university in 2022, Orion Zinc took his first step into professional bar DJing. He purchased his first DJ controller, a Pioneer DDJ-400, and within a week began playing at Wild Coffee Bar through Hola Jefe. This marked the beginning of his journey through Kampala's nightlife scene and led to further residencies and performances at a growing number of venues. His sets span Deep House, 3-Step Afro House, Afro House and Afro Tech, while also incorporating mainstream Pop and Afrobeats depending on the event and audience. His versatility has allowed him to perform at a wide range of settings, including themed parties, private events, boat parties and nightlife venues across Uganda and beyond. Orion Zinc has held residencies at Wild Coffee Bar, Soul Tri3e Sound Collective, Encanto Tapas Bar and Mediterraneo Restaurant (Mellisime Bar), and has performed alongside artists including B-Brave, David Meyer, Aweko Brian, Nach Mao, Hola Jefe and Carlos Caula. As a producer, Orion Zinc continues to develop his own sound through original music, combining his DJ influences with African electronic rhythms and melodic textures. His journey continues to grow through performances, productions and collaborations, with a focus on contributing to the evolving African electronic music scene.
