Note San is a Chilean artist born and raised in the commune of La Florida, Santiago. His history with music begins long before he releases a song. It was born from the need to find a place where he could express what he was often unable to say in a conversation. Writing became a way to understand what she felt, to face her emotions and to transform personal experiences into stories with which other people could also identify.
His first approach to music was at the age of 16 thanks to freestyle. Improvisation awakened in him an immediate interest in writing, discovering that rhymes could become a tool to vent and explain what was happening in his life without having to explain it directly to others. From that moment on, she began to write frequently, developing a very personal way of telling her experiences, always from honesty and vulnerability.
In 2017 he took his first step into a recording studio when he began recording his songs in his friend Bastian's Home Studio. Those sessions marked the beginning of his learning as an artist. During that period he recorded several demos that were never released. The reason was simple: I felt that they still did not represent the level I was looking for or the artistic identity I wanted to build. That decision ended up becoming one of the principles that define his project to this day. Rather than publish because of the need to be present, he preferred to wait for the moment when he really felt that his music spoke for him.
Far from abandoning music, those years were marked by a constant learning process. He continued to write, listen to new sounds and search for an identity that would allow him to feel fully represented. Music was still an intimate space, a conversation with oneself rather than a search for recognition.
The pandemic was one of the most important moments in that process. Isolation allowed him to write in greater depth and develop a much more introspective look at his emotions. It was a period where composition ceased to be just an outlet to become a tool for personal growth. Many of the ideas that were born during those years would end up defining the artistic path he would take later on.
In the midst of that context, his friend Fernando gave him the opportunity to record again after a long time without entering a studio. That possibility was decisive. After years of writing and perfecting his proposal, he felt that he was finally ready to start sharing his music in an official capacity.
In 2021 he arrived at Castillo Sonoro, a set of studios located in the center of Santiago. Being surrounded by producers, artists and people linked to music ended up being a decisive experience for his growth. Beyond the recordings, he found a creative environment where he could draw on different perspectives and understand more clearly what sound he wanted to develop.
It was during that stage where he began to definitively orient his proposal towards a trap with strong melodic overtones, incorporating elements of R&B and bounce without losing the essence of rap that he had developed since his early years writing. That mixture ended up becoming the musical language with which he feels most identified today.
Nota San's influences have always been deeply tied to early 2000s R&B. Among the artists who have most marked his way of understanding music, T-Pain stands out, both for his melodic capacity and for the way he transmits emotions. At the same time, much of his musical training comes from the reggaeton of that time, especially from artists who managed to combine melodies with interpretation and narrative.
Within those influences there is a name that ended up being fundamental for the construction of his name: Randy Nota Loka. The fixation on the artist was so important that he took the word "Note" to construct the name by which he would be known musically. In addition to representing one of his main inspirations, he was looking for a short name, easy to remember and that would allow people to quickly associate it with his artistic project.
The second part of his name has an equally important meaning. "San" was born as a reference to Daniel San, protagonist of The Karate Kid. More than a cinematic tribute, it represents the way in which Nota San understands her career: that of someone who always remains an apprentice. For him, music is a path of constant learning, where each song, each project and each experience are part of a much longer process that is still being built.
Although much of his references come from R&B and reggaeton, his writing is also deeply influenced by Chilean rap. Among all the national artists, Jonas Sanche occupies a special place within his training, being one of the main responsible for inspiring the development of his writing and his way of approaching letters from a personal perspective.
The year 2024 was a turning point for his career. During that period he released the single "I Shit on the Price", a release that ended up defining much of the sound identity he had been building during the previous years. The song consolidated a proposal where trap, melodies and energy coexist with an emotional interpretation that would end up becoming one of the main characteristics of their music.
That same year began a stage that would transform not only his career, but also his personal life. In 2023 he had met Darou while they were both working as waiters. At that time, each one developed completely different musical proposals. Darou was geared towards a much more alternative R&B, while Nota San continued to build their own sound. As the months went by, they began to share much more time outside of work. At the end of 2023, that closeness coincided with a time when both were starting new musical stages. That growth occurred in parallel and ended up building a brotherhood based on both the personal and the artistic.
From that relationship Lo Naiti was born. Although initially presented as a duo, over time the project found a different identity. Today Lo Naiti represents the joint work between Darou as producer and Nota San as artist. More than a shared artistic name, it symbolizes the trust, friendship and growth that both have built during these years, becoming a fundamental piece within the musical development of Nota San.
The collaboration between the two gave rise to one of the projects that most represents their commitment to the independent scene: 77party. Together with Darou and his girlfriend Rayén they decided to create an event where the real protagonists were the artists. The idea was always to offer a space that would allow you to know not only the music of each guest, but also the people behind the projects and the communities that accompany them.
In its first editions, 77party was born without being linked to a specific genre. As time went by, the project began to become more and more oriented towards the Chilean R&B scene. The decision responds to a shared conviction: they consider that there is a community with enormous artistic potential and a strong sense of brotherhood among those who are part of it.
However, 77party was also born for a much simpler and closer reason. After months of organizing each event, they wanted to be able to stay in the same place celebrating alongside the artists, the teams and the audience. That's why each edition ends with a DJ Set within the same venue. This instance allows them to enjoy the closing of the day without changing space and offers the musicians the possibility of sharing quietly with the people who came to support them.
In 2026 he released REWIND 1999, his debut album. The project represents his interpretation of love, heartbreak and mourning. To build it, he created a character completely opposite to his own way of understanding relationships. That character lives love from the lack of affective responsibility, becoming an antithesis of who he really is. Through that figure she explored different emotions related to nostalgia and breakups, using fiction as a tool to understand real experiences.
More than telling a literal story, REWIND 1999 was his way of understanding the nostalgia left by love relationships and, at the same time, of creating the album that he would have liked to listen to during his own breakups. Each song is born from emotions that she once experienced, transforming them into stories where other people can also see themselves reflected.
That goal continues to be the main engine of all his music. Note San writes about real experiences, his own mistakes and those of others, relationships that ended, emotions that are difficult to explain and moments that often remain in silence. He seeks that those who listen to his songs can be moved, remember, identify and understand that personal stories can also become shared stories.
He currently continues to develop new music while working permanently with Darou in the production of his next projects and in the organization of 77party. Their proposal combines trap, rap and strong melodic influences from R&B, building a sound where emotion always occupies the main place.
For Nota San, music has never been just a means of making songs. It is the way he found to understand his own history.
