Rooted in Nairobi, Kenya, shaped by the world, and now based in Thailand, Mystic Mo is a third culture kid who built a home out of sound. Born in Kenya and raised across continents, he found belonging in rhythm. His mission is to create a home away from home for the African diaspora, a place to feel connected to their roots through music, while giving African sounds a global platform and putting Kenya on the map.
Mystic Mo plays afro tech and 3 step, with sets that are dark, hypnotic, and introspective, inspired by tribal rhythms and the sounds of his ancestors. He draws inspiration from artists such as Mpho.Wav, Atmos Blaq, Thakzin, Funky Qla, Caiiro, Enoo Napa, Da Capo, Dlala Thukzin, DJ Nkabza, and Bob Marley, whose deep messages shaped his belief that music should carry meaning. He is a resident DJ for Banjuka Groove, one of Asia’s fastest-growing brands and Thailand’s home for the groove. He has played Boa Club Phuket, APT101, Pink Club, and Bangkok Island, closed for Visca, Via Seri, and Matt Davies, opened for Zulu Mageba, and appeared on Radio Red Phuket alongside his duo partner, YND.
His name comes from Bob Marley’s “Natural Mystic.” He also draws deep inspiration from the Mau Mau freedom fighters and sees himself as a reincarnation of their spirit. For Mystic Mo, music is a tool for liberation and a call to fight for the right causes. He doesn’t ask you to listen with your ears. He asks you to listen with your heart.
