Modis is the new solo project from Argentinian producer Rafael Caivano (a.k.a. Frikstailers, a.k.a. Klik & Frik). Their debut album "Capsule" (released on vinyl and digital through Latinambient, the Italian label curated by famed producer Populous) takes inspiration from some of the most unconventional classics in electronic music, from Mort Garson (Mother Earth's Plantasia) to Boards of Canada, through the more emotional side of Aphex Twin. Each song on Capsule opens a dialogue between past and present, moving between sounds that blur the line between the organic and the digital, between the polished and the beauty of the imperfect.
The expressive sound of bamboo flutes and synthetic harps in the first half of the album transports you to the strangest Asian landscapes, and then diverts the journey to places that elude any fixed location on a map. The overall sound of the album has an almost tactile warmth, with woody textures and an intentional layer of noise that makes it intimate and nostalgic.
