Mauricio Castro is a drummer, producer, and composer from Chetumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Classically trained in percussion at the State Music School of Quintana Roo, his musical journey began as a teenager behind the drum kit, inspired by traditional music, global rhythms, and contemporary genres like jazz, drum & bass, dubstep, and ethnotronic.
Describing his music as a “journey through echoes,” he crafts hybrid compositions that merge percussion with electronic textures, creating a sound that feels both rooted and futuristic. What sets him apart is his ability to bring true musicality and versatility into every piece — whether producing experimental soundscapes or driving high-energy live sets.
He has performed at major cultural festivals including Quintana Roo en la Habana (Cuba), Festival de Cultura del Caribe (Mexico), Cruzando Fronteras (Mexico), Miss Costa Maya (Belize), and Nuits d’Afrique (Canada). He has collaborated with artists such as Adrián Cue, Natalia Arroyo, and Mogo Mogo, and contributed to community development projects that use music as a tool for social impact.
With one experimental lo-fi EP released, Mauricio Castro is now preparing the next phase of his career: solo shows with hybrid electronic/live setups, bringing audiences immersive performances that channel electronic energy through cultural and traditional influences.
