Full bio

From admiring the great DJs of a generation to sharing a booth with them. From experimenting with a radio cassette to building a career of more than 25 years in electronic music.

Born in Reus (Tarragona) in 1979 and raised in Barcelona, Mario Pitch belongs to a generation that discovered electronic music through cassettes, vinyl, radio stations and the large discos that marked an era.

His story began when he was just seven years old, when he got his hands on Holiday Mix (1986), Raúl Orellana's legendary megamix. That film sparked a fascination that would soon become a real obsession with music, mixes and DJ culture.

Barcelona was his first great music school. During his childhood and adolescence he grew up listening to sessions from emblematic venues such as Chasis, Scorpia, Pont Aeri, Xque, Chocolate and Coliseum, while looking for any opportunity to get closer to the professionals he admired.

He spent entire afternoons on Onda Rambla, watching Toni Peret and Josep Maria Castells during the program It's Your Time. He also went to Cadena Top Radio to follow Ponte a Top, presented by Quique Tejada, and frequented the program El Que Més Trenca, with Oriol Carrió and DJ Piyuli, at the Civic Center of Gràcia.

The legendary Plàstic record store, on Aragón Street, became another of his points of reference. There he discovered the latest vinyl releases and met DJs who starred in the nights of the main Catalan nightclubs.

When he was just twelve or thirteen years old, he began to attend the popular light parties of Otto Zutz and Up&Down. While other young people enjoyed the dance floor, Mario watched the booths attentively, studying the mixes and learning from those who mastered the art of making the audience dance.

His determination was such that, long before he had some turntables, he was already experimenting with a double-deck radio cassette, manually stopping the tapes with his fingers to try to synchronize two songs. Later came his first practices with vinyl, thanks to the turntables of a high school classmate.

That passion was not temporary. He was building his future.

1999: The leap to the professional cockpit

His family link with Monreal del Campo (Teruel) led him to begin his first professional experiences there, performing at the La Mina venue and at different celebrations.

In 1999 came the great turning point of his career: the opening of MR Dance Club. Under the stage name of DJ Pitch, he was chosen as the first resident DJ in the history of the club, becoming a fundamental piece of its beginnings.

That residency opened the doors to one of the most special chapters of his career.

From the MR booth he shared the stage with artists such as Pastis, Buenri, Javi Boss, Javi Aznar, Brian Cross, DJ Marta, DJ Neil, Abel Ramos, DJ Chumi, Pedro Miras, Marc Escudero and Xavi Metralla, among other big names on the national scene.

The extraordinary thing about that stage was not only sharing the bill with renowned artists. Many of them were the same DJs whose sessions he had listened to during his adolescence, those references that had fueled his dream of dedicating himself professionally to music.

The idols of his youth had become cabin mates.

A career built on stage

From then on, his career began to spread to different parts of Spain, participating in venues, festivals and events in Aragon, Catalonia, Valencia, Castilla y León and Teruel.

Among its performances are the Fiestas del Pilar in Zaragoza, the Fiestas de la Magdalena in Castellón and the Briviesca Baila festival, in Burgos.

After his time at MR he returned to Catalonia, where he continued to consolidate his experience in booths such as Atlàntida Sitges, Pacha Sitges, Tutankhamon, Lokotron, Vips Calafell and Low, as well as performing in different venues in Tarragona, the Costa Brava and the Castellón coast, including Matinée parties.

Later he returned to Teruel, participating in different events and celebrations such as FuentFresca, the Fiestas de San Julián and the emblematic Fiestas del Ángel, known as Las Vaquillas de Teruel.

Each stage expanded his experience, allowing him to develop a great ability to adapt to different audiences, styles and scenarios, without ever losing his passion for electronic music.

Alicante: evolution and new horizons

After years touring booths and stages, Mario Pitch established his residence in Alicante, the city from which he continues to develop his artistic activity.

There he has found a new stage of growth, surrounding himself with DJs, producers and professionals from the electronic scene and expanding his activity beyond live performances.

From his own music production studio, he works on new ideas and projects, exploring sounds and developing a creative side that complements his extensive experience as a DJ.

Among his most recent works is "Powerful", made with producer Tony Futura, a collaboration that reflects his desire to continue evolving musically.

Currently he continues to combine his performances in venues and events in the Valencian Community and other parts of Spain with work in the studio, keeping open a career that continues to add new projects and experiences.

More than 25 years of passion for music

Mario Pitch's story is not only understood through the places where he has performed or the artists with whom he has shared the stage.

It is the story of a boy who discovered the magic of electronic music on a cassette tape, who toured Barcelona looking to learn from the best and who, years later, managed to place himself on the other side of the booths he had admired so much.

More than twenty-five years after becoming resident DJ at MR Dance Club, he continues to face each session with the same enthusiasm as his beginnings.

From cassettes to vinyls. From radio stations to large booths. From admiring their references to sharing the stage with them. And from mixing the music of others to creating their own.

Mario Pitch represents a career built on curiosity, perseverance, learning and a passion that has never stopped evolving.

Because for Mario Pitch, electronic music is not simply a profession. It is a way of life.
