Josh Evangelista

Originally from Manila, Philippines, and currently based in Los Angeles, Josh Evangelista is a DJ, record producer, and remixer, with roots in the international dance music scene spanning more than three decades. Known for his signature blend of house, classic. and modern disco, funk, and nu-disco, Josh bridges the timeless sounds of dance music's golden eras with the energy and sophistication of today's electronic music landscape.

A certified Apple Logic Pro X professional and alumnus of Point Blank Music School, where he studied music production and remixing, Josh combines technical expertise with a deep appreciation for musical heritage and dance floor culture.

Throughout his career, Josh has shared the decks with internationally respected house music artists including the godfather of UK garage, Grant Nelson, house music royalty Richard Earnshaw, Groove Junkies, Adam Auburn, and Roy Davis Jr to name a few. His production and remix collaborations include Scott Diaz, Chris Santiago of Santiago & Bushido, Hed Kandi's Richie Kidd, UK producer Rob Hayes, and funk guitarist Slikk Tim.

As a recording artist and remixer, Josh has released numerous original productions and remixes featured in online radio sets, Hed Kandi radio, while also remixing for iconic Filipino acts The CompanY and The Itchyworms, alongside various indie electronic groups.

Josh's previously was an A&R role at WEA/Universal Records in Manila, helping introduce and promote influential local and international dance music releases. Before relocating to Los Angeles in 2001, he was an active fixture in Manila's nightlife scene, performing at popular venues including Venezia, Club Nirvana, Cosmo Bar, and Corner Pocket.

Beyond the DJ booth and recording studio, in 2014, Josh founded ToneDef Music, a multi-label music agency that grew into one of the country's prominent dance music record labels. He also established Bounce Electronic Music & DJ School, a pioneering institution dedicated to electronic music production and DJ education in Manila. Josh also hosted for 2 years Plip House Radio, a 2-hour radio show broadcasted on Manila’s dance music radio on FM, 107.9 U-Radio.

Among his most notable industry achievements is the creation of the Electronic Music Conference & DJ Expo, an educational and industry-focused platform bringing together DJs, producers, music professionals, and emerging talent. Popularly known as EMEX, it is the Philippines’ only educational and leadership platform for electronic music, the clubbing entertainment industries, and related art forms. Currently, Josh is managing Modern Classic Records, a Los Angeles-based house music record label and creative agency. Through Modern Classic, he also oversees Makati Nights, a roaming retro-inspired nightlife experience that celebrates the enduring appeal of disco, funk, soul, and classic dance music for contemporary audiences.
