140–150
JOHNNY O is a Brooklyn-based DJ and producer operating at 140–150 BPM, building sets from the raw materials of classic rave: 909 kicks, 303 acid, rave stabs, hard groove top loops, and samples with body memory. The music is three-dimensional and gritty, analog in feel. Not clean. Not polished. Built to move floors. He came to techno the long way. A decade fronting a touring band, years in recording studios as an engineer, work in sound design and film post-production. All of it is in the music. Strong melodic instinct, emotional left turns, bootleg choices that hit people who weren't expecting to feel something. Fatboy Slim, The Prodigy, Fred Again run through his machine and come out as something else. He's played 90+ cities across North America, held a regular presence in LA warehouse spaces, and made his international debut in Berlin. In New York he's built credibility on the floor: direct support at Agape NYC for Noise Mafia and Franck, appearances at Bossa Nova Civic Club and Rash. His audience is genuinely global: Melbourne and Berlin are his top streaming cities, Germany is his number one country, with real traction across Australia, Colombia, Belgium, Vietnam, and Europe. His releases have charted on Hypeddit's Top 100 Downloads multiple times. DJ support from VTSS, Justin Jay, and Mija. Press from 1001 Tracklists. He calls it rave music with a punk attitude. That's accurate.
