Full bio

Jan Swam is a project that emerged alongside the creation of Organic Signs, embodying a deep exploration of rhythm, texture, and movement. His performances are not just sets but immersive sonic journeys, seamlessly weaving together tribal rhythms, hypnotic psychedelia, intricate structures, and an expansive palette of textures. Each performance is a fluid experience, where sound morphs and transforms, guiding the listener through both familiar and uncharted sonic landscapes.

Beyond the complexity of his rhythms, Jan Swam also crafts time-bending soundscapes, beginning with minimal, progressive pulses that steadily evolve, accumulating layers of percussive detail, atmospheric swells, and unexpected sonic twists. This gradual metamorphosis creates an organic sense of momentum, inviting the audience into a trance-like state where time dissolves, and the music becomes an ever-shifting entity of its own. Through his unique approach, Jan Swam bridges the raw energy of tribal percussions with the depth of experimental electronic music, offering a deeply immersive and evolving auditory experience, a space where sound and perception intertwine, and each moment unfolds like a journey into the unknown. He has been featured in various VA compilations from labels such as Terenor, Blue Night Jungle, Materica Records, Techlab, Human Razzmatazz, or his own Organic Signs.

Jan Swam has performed at numerous festivals and clubs across Europe & Asia, including Mo:Dem Festival (Croatia), WOMB (Tokyo), Garage Noord (Amsterdam), Funke (Ghent), Traffic (Tokyo), Final (Taipei), ATP (Xiamen), Volnost (Seoul), Clinic (Chengdu), Ormside Projects or Gaffe (London), Point Éphémère (Paris), Module (Copenhagen), Yamamori Tengu (Dublin), Hall Club (Estonia) or Razzmatazz (Barcelona) among many others. He also played at radio stations like Rinse Fr, (Paris), Toha Radio (Taipei), Chengdu Community Radio (China), Gimic (Brussels), Operator Radio (Rotterdam) or Noods Radio (Bristol).

Together with Emilia Grima, he is part of Convoluted Mental Mirror. Under this alias, they build sets that seek an immersive experience, hypnotically blending several complex percussive elements. He's also co-owner and music curator of Refractor festival, where he managed to bring together a cast of international artists in an idyllic space located in nature.
