Harpa

Bipin Rao (Harpa), is a sound and light artist, modular synth performer, lighting designer, researcher, lecturer based between Wismar and Berlin.

His artistic practice revolves around interventions through installations and performances. He explores the phenomenological aspects of sound and light, including their aesthetic, poetic, and semiotic attributes. His pursuit of wildness unfolds through performative interpretations and states of induced trance using modular synthesis, fostering a collective experience.

He conceives of his sound compositions with modular synthesizer as a means of capturing emotional intensities, shaping a journey into induced states of trance. Repetitions, transitions, and the subtle nuances within patterns are central to his compositions, as is the real time sculpting of sound that is constantly evolving in textures, rhythms, and timbres.

In Lighting, his focus lies in design methods, sustainability, lighting sciences, human and ecological factors.
