Full bio

Trax. Luis Andrés Orellana Piedra. DJ, musician, producer and Ecuadorian cultural manager originally from Loja. His artistic training began at the age of 14, consolidating his career in the booths since 2020.Specialized in the Tech House and Minimal genres, his style is defined by a technical, dynamic groove and precise track reading. He is the founder and resident DJ of Nómadas 593, the first electronic music club in Loja, marking a milestone in the clubbing culture of the region. With a career that spans the entire Ecuadorian territory, he has taken his sound to diverse stages ranging from the Galapagos Islands and the Amazon to the main capitals of the country, consolidating himself as a benchmark of the national electronic scene.

The year 2020 will be marked in global history as a period of disruption and paralysis for the entertainment industry. Paradoxically, it was in this scenario of uncertainty that DJ GATOTRAX decided to make the definitive leap from private sessions to professional booths. The formal debut in 2020 was not an easy road. With a severely restricted night circuit and a local scene that still looked askance at avant-garde electronic music, the artist had to make his way based on pure talent and a differentiated sound proposal. From its first official presentations, it was clear that it was not a common selector. Their proposal immediately moved away from commercial and predictable sounds to delve into the most sophisticated aspects of Tech House and Minimal. The booth became his natural habitat, a technical play space where the use of EQ, effects and frequency cutting were not mere ornaments, but storytelling tools.

DJ GATOTRAX took on the role of cultural manager and visionary. Faced with the lack of spaces dedicated exclusively to the culture of electronic music in his hometown, he made the decision to found Nómadas 593. This project not only became the first electronic music club in Loja, but also the epicenter of a cultural revolution for the south of the republic. As founder and resident DJ of Nómadas 593, he designed a concept inspired by the underground clubs of European capitals: optimized sound systems, under his residence, Nómadas 593 educated the nights of Loja, demonstrating that Minimal and Tech House had a loyal, cultured audience hungry for quality proposals. This milestone not only consolidated his name as a DJ, but also positioned him as one of the most influential and respected cultural managers in the southern region of the country.

The Hybrid Format and the Architecture of Sound.

TRAX does not conceive of the booth as a simple transition space between songs, but as a canvas for real-time sound reconstruction. To achieve the distinguished sound that characterizes him, the artist has developed and perfected a hybrid presentation format. This technical setup combines the robustness of Pioneer DJ players—the absolute global industry standard—with the digital flexibility and live effects processing of Native Instruments Traktor. The result is a lively, organic and completely unrepeatable session in each presentation. Its EQ technique is surgical, preventing saturation and ensuring that the bass frequencies hit the audience's chest with crisp, enveloping clarity.

Its greatest technical and philosophical inspiration comes from the Canadian genius Richie Hawtin. De Hawtin embraced aesthetic minimalism, clever use of cutting-edge technology, deconstructing rhythm, and the idea that the DJ must interact symbiotically with machines to create something entirely new. His facet as a manager and tour DJ has led him to draw a cartography of the groove that ranges from the exuberance of the Amazon to the most exclusive and biodiverse corners of the Galapagos Islands, passing of course through the main capitals of the continental territory.

The future for the artist is projected towards the internationalization of his brand and the consolidation of his own phonographic catalog.
