Can electronic music mixing be used as a language to communicate with our inner self? For DJ Fefu, track selection is a form of direct communication—a way to build narrative arcs that help people anchor in the present moment and reconnect with their bodies on the floor.
Her journey began in Australia, where discovering bush doof culture opened her eyes to how electronic music can connect people to nature, to each other, and to a deeper sense of community. It was there, surrounded by the forest playing sets for friends, that she got her first decks and discovered her passion for musical storytelling. Later, a move to the Netherlands exposed her to heavy techno club culture and industrial festivals. Immersing herself in those raw, underground spaces refined her ears and evolved her sound toward darker, more relentless frequencies.
Recently based back in Spain, DJ Fefu wants to merge these two worlds—combining the open-air, community-driven spirit of outdoor gatherings with the raw intensity of the underground scene. Drawing inspiration from the local Basque culture and its striking landscapes, she crafts sets anchored by low bass, hypnotic textures, complex percussion, and deep, irresistible grooves.
By seamlessly blending breakbeats, hardgroove, hypnotic techno, drum and bass, and psy-techno, DJ Fefu converts raw energy into a shared sonic language. For her, the dancefloor is a vital space for real-world connection: a place where movement, self-expression, and community intersect on a single, unified frequency.
