Full bio

Rather than treating genres as boundaries, Fake Talent approaches music as architecture—building spaces that feel abandoned, mechanical, and strangely human. His compositions often juxtapose relentless percussion with fragile atmospheres, balancing aggression and introspection without relying on conventional structures. The result is music that feels cinematic yet intimate, designed as much to be experienced emotionally as physically.

Raised in Santiago, Chile, Thomas spent years performing in bands before relocating to New York, where the city’s density, noise, and anonymity became defining influences on his artistic direction. The transition marked a turning point: guitars gave way to samplers, synthesizers, and manipulated field recordings, while the emotional intensity of hardcore and metal remained embedded beneath layers of electronic production.

The name Fake Talent reflects an ongoing fascination with impostor syndrome, identity, and the disconnect between external perception and internal reality. Rather than presenting confidence as authenticity, the project embraces contradiction—the tension between vulnerability and control, beauty and decay, chaos and precision. These themes appear throughout every release, often without explicit lyrics, communicated instead through atmosphere, texture, and pacing.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Burial, Aphex Twin, Fred again.., Skrilelx, and the darker corners of contemporary drum & bass, Fake Talent refuses to settle into a single sonic identity. One track may lean toward immersive ambient soundscapes, while the next erupts into distorted breakbeats or industrial rhythms. Despite these shifts, every release shares the same emotional DNA: urban isolation, memory, impermanence, and the search for meaning within increasingly artificial environments.

His productions are deeply influenced by the physical world. Subway tunnels, concrete architecture, broken machinery, late-night streets, and forgotten industrial spaces become musical references rather than visual ones. Everyday noise is transformed into rhythm; silence becomes as important as impact. The city itself functions as an instrument.

Beyond music, Fake Talent views each release as part of a broader artistic universe. Visual design, typography, photography, and world-building are treated as extensions of the sound, creating cohesive experiences instead of disconnected singles. Every project contributes another fragment to an evolving narrative that explores technology, alienation, and the emotional consequences of modern life.

Based in New York and continuously developing new material, Fake Talent represents the convergence of underground electronic music and uncompromising artistic vision. The project does not seek nostalgia or trends; instead, it aims to create music that feels timeless, immersive, and emotionally resonant—soundtracks for cities that never truly sleep and for people who often feel invisible within them.
