EXTERTION is a producer and DJ from Santiago, Chile, whose project moves within rawstyle and raw xtra, with a proposal focused on the combination of energy, aggressiveness and emotion. His relationship with electronic music began before Extertion officially existed: in 2020 he began producing music and, in 2022, he took his first steps as a DJ under the alias Sickdexx. In 2023 he decided to start a new stage and build his own identity under the name Extertion.
The name was born from the search for an identity that could differentiate it and better represent the concept behind the project. It is inspired by the English word "exertion", related to effort, the application of force and the energy used to achieve something. The modification of the original word gave rise to Extertion, a name that ended up becoming the basis of an independent artistic identity.
Since their first works, the project has been developed around a very specific idea: to make intense music without losing musicality. Rawstyle and xtra raw allow you to work with high-impact kicks and a very marked physical energy, but for Extertion power alone is not enough. Each element must have a reason within the track. The kicks must bring energy and character, while the melodies, harmonies and structures must build an experience that can remain in the listener's memory.
Their sound takes references from artists such as Cardination and Synthsation, especially in the way they combine aggressive elements with a defined melodic identity. At 160 BPM, their productions seek to maintain a balance between the impact of rawstyle and a more emotional dimension. The intention is not to create aggressive music just for the sake of being so, but to use that aggressiveness as a tool within a composition that has direction.
This search can be summarized in three concepts that define the project: energy, aggressiveness and emotion. They are three elements that work together. Energy is present in the intensity of their productions and in the experience of their sets; aggressiveness appears mainly through kicks and the power of sound; and emotion is found in melodies, moments of tension and release and in those elements that allow a song to be remembered beyond its immediate impact.
For Extertion, a good rawstyle track shouldn't depend solely on how much it hits. It should also be able to generate an emotional reaction. The intention is that the audience can scream when a kick comes, but also that they can remember a melody, recognize a song and eventually sing it. That combination of impact and musicality is one of the foundations on which he seeks to build his identity.
Before consolidating as Extertion, the stage as Sickdexx allowed him to develop experience in both production and DJing. However, the name change in 2023 represented more than just an aesthetic modification: it meant starting to build a project with a more defined artistic direction. Since then, the priority has been to develop an identity that can be recognized both by its sound and its image.
In the production field, Extertion has managed to bring their music to labels related to the international hard dance scene. Among their releases are "Woozy" and "Desire", released through Scantraxx Prospexx, in addition to "You & Me", released by DIAMONDCORE Records. It also has "Burning in Flames", a collaboration with Kickbonez, which is part of the evolution of the project.
These releases represent different stages within a process that continues to develop. Rather than understanding each release as an end point, Extertion considers them part of the progressive construction of a sound and identity of their own. The search continues to focus on producing music that can work inside a dance floor, but at the same time has enough musical elements to stay interesting outside of it.
As a DJ, one of the first relevant milestones of the project was his participation in Kingz Day 2024, in Santiago, on April 27, 2024. His participation came after winning a contest that allowed him to be part of the event. This experience marked an important stage in his development as a DJ and allowed him to transfer his music from the studio to an audience and stage context.
During 2025 the project went through a pause. Instead of presenting that period as a definitive break, it is part of the natural development process of Extertion. During 2026 a new stage began, progressively resuming the project and returning to the stage.
The return had one of its most important moments on May 16, 2026, with its participation in Verrückt, in Santiago, sharing a lineup with Magnuz and RebelNoise. Beyond the event itself, this presentation represented Extertion's return to a stage after the hiatus and the beginning of a new stage for the project.
The return is not intended as an attempt to repeat exactly what was done previously. The intention is to use the experience accumulated during the first years to build something more defined. This includes not only improving musical production, but also developing a coherent visual identity, a professional presentation and a proposal that can grow in a sustained way.
Visually, Extertion seeks an identity that accompanies the same philosophy of its music. Black functions as a base and atmosphere; white represents the main element of identity and communication; and purple appears as a secondary accent. The intention is to maintain a clean, modern and recognizable aesthetic, avoiding depending on the visual clichés associated with rawstyle.
This same philosophy applies to the project in general. Extertion does not seek to build an image based on exaggerations or present itself as something that is not yet. The intention is to showcase the work done, develop a clear proposal, and let the music and live experiences progressively build the recognition of the project.
Within the Chilean scene, the goal is to develop an identity that can be differentiated without moving away from the roots of the genre. Extertion understands rawstyle as a space where power can coexist with musicality and where a track can be aggressive without losing an emotional direction.
That's why the artistic search is not only focused on creating the heaviest kick or the most extreme drop. It's about finding a combination that allows each production to have its own character. The goal is for a song to be recognized for its energy, but also for its melodies, its production decisions and the way it builds tension and emotion.
As a producer, Extertion continues to develop his sound and explore new ways to bring that idea to his compositions. As a DJ, he seeks to bring that same concept to the stage: energetic sets, changes in intensity, and moments capable of generating a real connection with the audience.
The project is currently in a new stage of construction. After its first years of experimentation, releases and presentations, Extertion seeks to move towards a more consistent stage, with greater presence on stage and an increasingly defined musical production.
The goal for the next few years is to continue developing the project from a solid base: own music, a recognizable visual identity and a clear proposal as an artist. The goal is not simply to be part of a lineup, but to build a project that can grow inside and outside Chile while maintaining the same essence.
Extertion represents, ultimately, a search to find the point where strength and emotion can coexist within rawstyle. Kicks capable of generating impact, melodies capable of remaining in the memory and an identity that can be recognized without the need to explain it.
That combination of energy, aggressiveness and emotion is at the heart of the project and the direction in which Extertion continues to evolve.
