DJ D'Latino

DJ D Latino is a Chilean-born, New Zealand-based DJ, radio host, event producer, and cultural promoter who has become one of the most recognized figures in the Latin entertainment scene across Aotearoa.

Originally from Santiago, Chile, he moved to Christchurch, New Zealand, in 2011. What began as a passion for music quickly evolved into a mission: creating spaces where people from different cultures could connect through music, dance, and shared experiences. Over the past decade, DJ D Latino has played a pivotal role in growing Latin music and culture throughout New Zealand, helping introduce Latin sounds to wider audiences while building strong connections within multicultural communities.

Since launching his professional DJ career in New Zealand in 2015, he has performed at hundreds of events, including nightclubs, festivals, corporate functions, weddings, cultural celebrations, community events, and private parties. His performances have taken him throughout the country, including Christchurch, Wellington, Queenstown, Dunedin, Invercargill, Nelson, Timaru, Ashburton, and Mount Maunganui.

Known for his versatility behind the decks, DJ D Latino is an open-format DJ who specializes in reading crowds and creating memorable dancefloor experiences. His sets seamlessly blend Latin rhythms with commercial and club favorites, incorporating genres such as Reggaeton, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cumbia, Latin House, House, EDM, Hip Hop, R&B, Disco, Funk, Rock, Afrobeats, Dancehall, and Top 40 hits. This ability to connect with diverse audiences has made him a sought-after performer for both mainstream and multicultural events.

In 2016, he launched the Mambo Kings Latin Party brand, which has grown into one of the longest-running Latin party concepts in the South Island of New Zealand. Through this platform, he has helped create opportunities for artists, dancers, performers, and businesses while bringing thousands of people together to celebrate Latin culture. Over the years, Mambo Kings events have attracted more than 60,000 attendees collectively, becoming a cornerstone of Christchurch's nightlife and multicultural calendar.

Beyond performing, DJ D Latino has built a strong reputation in broadcasting and media. He hosted several successful radio shows, including The Beats Revolution and The Monday Drive, on Christchurch stations Pulzar FM and RDU 98.5FM. His contribution to radio was recognized when he received the RDU Best on Show Award in 2022.

As an entrepreneur, he is the founder and director of South Media Group, a company specializing in entertainment, marketing, event production, digital content, and media services. Through South Media Group, he has worked with businesses, brands, community organizations, local councils, and cultural institutions to deliver events and marketing initiatives throughout New Zealand.

His work extends beyond entertainment into community leadership. He is the founder of the New Zealand Latin Awards, an initiative established to recognize and celebrate the achievements of Latin Americans across business, arts, sports, education, and community service. He also serves as a founder and trustee of the New Zealand Latin Community Development Trust, supporting projects focused on cultural preservation, education, integration, and community development.

Throughout his career, DJ D Latino has collaborated with international brands and major industry partners. Since 2023, he has served as a Jägermeister New Zealand Ambassador. He has also worked alongside brands including Red Bull, Altos Tequila, Havana Club, and numerous hospitality and entertainment venues across the country.
