DJ DAVID CASTILLO "Music is the way we convey our personality, our style and our purest essence to the world." David Castillo's history with music was not born in a professional studio, but in the daily life and complicity of the school halls in Bogotá. His curiosity about the art of DJing was sparked when, together with his classmates, he began to delve into the universe of dancehall. What began as a taste for the viral hits of the moment quickly became an obsession with collecting "hidden gems"—those exclusive versions that few had in their libraries. The spark was already lit. David's first sets came to life from a cell phone screen, musicalizing breaks and classrooms for his friends. Over time, and guided by the influence of his close circle, he expanded his musical boundaries towards the rhythmic power of the guaracha. Those first and informal school sessions were the engine to take the big step: acquire their own professional equipment and give themselves to rigorous practice days with a very clear goal: to take their sound to the nightclubs of the capital. Today, DJ David Castillo's proposal stands out for a vibrant versatility that fuses classic reggaeton (with the old-school power of references such as Héctor "El Father"), fine dancehall and high-energy guaracha. In the booth, David focuses on breaking the ice from the first track. Its technical style is characterized by extremely fluid transitions and surprising mixes that defy convention, keeping the track in a constant state of movement and expectation. For him, each selected song must have its own personality: he looks for tracks capable of breaking barriers and making people scream with excitement. Their recent debut in renowned booths such as Trébol Discoteca is just the beginning of a career with exponential projection. Currently, David is designing his official launch event, a community space designed for the public to be a direct participant in the take-off of his career through his first formally recorded live set. With his feet on the ground and his sights set on the big stages of Bogotá, DJ David Castillo seeks to rescue and transmit that same genuine emotion he felt when he discovered songs as a child; A sonic bridge where the nostalgia of dancehall and the strength of guaracha meet to create the perfect party.
