DJ Casanouva

One maxime is clear to DJ Casanouva: He profoundly and emottionaly understands that each gig is a new opportunity to spread and infect his fiery, passionate lobve for music, and seduce the crowd with his collection of house grooves and funky disco rhythms. This musical philosophy has led him to position himself as one of the most influential and respected DJs in Lima.

As a producer, he has been blessed by the mentorship of living legend, Chez Damier. Under his inspiration, DJ Casanouva partnered up with his neighbour and fellow producer, Zedlav, to create their duo project "Surco's Groove", eventually releasing via Chez's Balance Recordings and Adeen Records "What is Love? (What is love?)". Two years later, Casanouva's vocals were sampled by Alex Kassian's and Running Hot's "The Love Theme", which was included in Paramida's "Love on the Rocks" 10 Year Anniversary 2XLP compilation. It's also noteworthy to mention that DJ C has released his own viny record entitled "From Lima to Tampa (And Back Again)" via Back Door Records - Dsum's imprint; as well as, having dedicated a track to the late-but-great Mike Huckaby entitled "Forever Huckaby", released via Phil Weeks' Robsoul Recordings. Recently, he has launched his own record label "Nouva Muzik".

Last but not least, we cannot omit the fact that DJ Casanouva is also an Intellectual Property Attorney-at-Law, specializing in Copyright and Trademarks. His Thesis entitled "The Recognition of Copyright Protection for DJ Sets" has been published by the University of Lima's Official Law Review - Ius et Praxis. He's a strong advocate in favor of sampling as a creative musical technique that should be protected under the law. Finally, he's also a University Professor at the University of San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL). In it's Law School, DJ Casanouva (or, shall we say, Professor Nouva) gives lectures on Intellectual Property Law, Legal English and Legal Foundations.

An Attorney by profession, a University Professor by vocation; but, most of all, a DJ by passion. It's DJ C, baby!
