Grew up the listening to classic rock, r and b, and hiphop. My first exposure to electronic music was Ace of Base the sign. As well as la bouche, and technotronic. Despite that I ended up becoming a hip hop head, was obsessed with making mixtapes out of music videos. I would record them live into a audio cassette recorder and have tons of unique mixes to collect. It was one of the best ways for me to get music for free. Everntually i went to art school and things took a turn. I was very visually artistic and love to illustrate and do grafitti. I spent a lot of time doing that in artschool before deciding i wanted to be in a band.
Started off playing live music at the age of 19 as a vocalist and songwriter in local punk and hardcore bands. Occassionally dabbling in the metal core scene with a few brief stints in some friends bands as well. Played all around ny at numerous live venues in the various boros. Went on a haphazard east coast tour and lost more money than we made, shortly afterwords I quit. I was 27 at the time. I dropped out of music entirely but started going to clubs a lot more. Saw a bunch of live DJ performances during that time in my life, had friends in the local nyc scene who were already show going veterans, and would jump around various music scenes, which got me exposure to a lot more styles of international music.
In my early to mid 30s i started exploring more of the electronic music scene, mostly focused on stuff like grime, ghettotech, and chacago footwork as those styles were more hiphop fopcused. My good friend who I refer to as Manteca was always pushing new stuff my way. I credit him with putting me on to a ton of house and garage music as well as jungle and showing me the art of DJing which he had done for years.
I'm 42 now. I decided at around 39 to begin the journey to share my personal taste with the world as a livestream DJ. I also decided to ressurect my talent for music and just make tracks under my own name. I thought a lot about using an alias but at this point in my life it seems unessesary and not authentic. I've wanted to perform on a bigger stage but my home is and always will be the underground. I don't expect to please everyone with what I do but this is my story. I spend a lot of time producing tracks of all genres but i'm most;ly focused on house and garage and i side quest other genres pretty often. Not afraid to push boundaries and test myself or my audience. I've self published and released a bunch of music so far under an alias and want to continue pushing forward to reach the next level. I believe music is the magic we all need in our lives to keep going. It a beat we can't ignore. I just want to inspire myself and others. Also I believe in the healing power of the dancefloor. I'll never shy away from that, I also appreciate the people that do it. It's one of the things i love to do myself. I live for it.
