Demetrio Sonidero

Demetrio Sonidero is the alternative tropical music project created by Mexican musician and DJ Kevin Harris Jiménez. Inspired by the deep nostalgia, street power, and community identity of Mexico's sonidero culture, Demetrio emerges as a bridge between the tradition of popular dance and the avant-garde of the global dance floor. His musical proposal is an expansive sonic journey that pays homage to the rhythm of cumbia. In his sessions, Kevin hypnotically fuses genres such as electrocumbia, psychedelic cumbia, and the mystical cadence of lowered cumbia. At the same time, the project experiments with the future of rhythm through neocumbia and the seismic frequencies of tropical bass. With the echo of neighborhood speakers as a compass, Demetrio Sonidero redefines the sound of the periphery, transforming cumbia into a psychotropic and digital experience designed to make both the asphalt and nightclubs vibrate.
