With more than five years of experience as a producer, CALIME has built his career exploring different sounds within electronic music and accumulating more than 15 million plays through his remixes.
But getting to that point also made him ask himself a question: how much of it was really his?
For years, his job was to reinterpret songs that already existed. And even though the numbers grew, something inside him didn't quite do it. He realized that he could get millions of plays and, even so, feel that it didn't fully represent him. Because behind each remix there was still a song that belonged to someone else.
It was then that he began to change his way of understanding music.
CALIME wants his music to be an extension of who he is. He doesn't just seek to produce songs that work, but to build a sound capable of conveying emotions, moments, and parts of himself that can't always be expressed in words.
His evolution as a DJ has also been part of that process. He has gone through sounds such as Afro House and Deep House, exploring different ways of understanding the track and connecting with the audience. He is currently developing a more personal identity within a melodic, deep and atmospheric electronica, where melodies, textures and emotion have a leading role.
This new stage represents the true beginning of CALIME as an artist.
After years of making other people's songs sound different, she now wants to achieve something much more difficult: that when someone hears a song, they know it's theirs.
