Sonny Moore, known professionally as Skrillex, is one of the most influential figures in modern electronic music. Born in 1988 in Los Angeles, he began his career as the lead singer of the post-hardcore band From First to Last. However, in 2008, he pivoted to electronic production, adopting the alias Skrillex and forever changing the landscape of the genre. His 2010 EP, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites, became a cultural phenomenon, bringing the aggressive "brostep" sound into the mainstream and earning him his first Grammy Awards. Since then, Skrillex has proven to be much more than a dubstep producer. He has collaborated with diverse artists ranging from Diplo (as Jack Ü) and Justin Bieber to Boys Noize (as Dog Blood) and Fred again.. After a long hiatus from solo albums, he returned in 2023 with Quest For Fire and Don’t Get Too Close, showcasing a sophisticated evolution toward house, UK garage, and experimental pop. With a record-breaking 9 Grammy Awards for an electronic artist, his legacy is defined by constant innovation and an unparalleled ability to bridge the gap between the underground and global pop charts.
