You can spot an anotherfred set by two things: soaked shirts and big grins. The Bochum-based DJ plays funky Hardgroove and Hardhouse: fast, percussive and topped with ghetto vocals. Watch him behind the decks for a minute and it's obvious the fun is real. It's also contagious. Whenever he finds a good sample from an old or new song, it usually ends up in his next set. He doesn't go full throttle all night, though: he uses breaks on purpose, so the peak that follows really lands. The timing for that comes from seven years behind the decks. Bochum's club scene is his home. With the HEIM series it started with a newcomer contest; since then he has played their nights several times, at Rotunde, Klub Kurt and Schlegel. At Garagen in Cologne he won people over in his newcomer slot and was booked again, and at snrs in Dortmund he played the Community Night. He is closely involved with Transition at Schlegel, a series he helps shape together with two promoter friends. The idea is to move from, say, 90s music into electronic music without committing to one genre, and simply go with it. In early 2026 he played peak time there, the room was boiling, and that night made it clear this is exactly what he wants to do. He started out at 15, playing his friends' birthday parties. From around 2020, techno was something he listened to on his own, since nobody in his circle was into it. In 2024 he heard "Funken" by Baugruppe 90 for the first time, and the direction was set: groove techno and Hardgroove. The final push came from a set he recorded on a whim during ADE 2025. It was his first post. The name is a small nod to Fred again.., dreamed up fairly randomly with a friend. The idea behind it is serious, though: bringing the feeling of the best nights out with friends into the club, without forcing anything. Next up, anotherfred wants to produce his own tracks and take them to the dancefloor himself.
