Full bio

Amro Zidan is an electronic music producer, DJ, sound artist, and multidisciplinary artist based in Alexandria, Egypt. His work is rooted in experimental club music, combining high-BPM structures, distortion, and influences from Egyptian shaabi rhythms and Middle Eastern tonalities to create intense and fast-moving sonic experiences.

Since beginning his musical journey in 2006, Amro has developed a diverse body of work across solo and collaborative contexts. His solo releases, including Until It’s Clear, Tamheed Lil Fawda (Prelude to Chaos), and Ecstasy of Mania, explore intense, fast-paced electronic forms that merge underground club aesthetics with experimental sound design. His performances extend these ideas into immersive live sets, balancing dancefloor energy with unpredictable sonic shifts.

Alongside his solo practice, Amro is deeply engaged in collaborative and interdisciplinary work. In 2022, he co-founded EIN L AQL with composer and oud player Bassem Diaa, contributing to the reactivation of Alexandria’s experimental music scene following the pandemic. He has also collaborated with international artists such as Sylvia Hinz, Jeanne Artemis, and Masha Kashyna, developing improvisation-based performances across diverse musical contexts.

His work has been presented through live performances, residencies, and collaborations in Egypt and internationally. Recent highlights include XP Music Festival in Riyadh, participation in the IDEA Festival in Amman through the Mycelium residency, and an upcoming residency in Switzerland supported by Pro Helvetia. He is currently preparing for a 2026 European tour, with performances across Berlin, Marseille, Hannover, Paris, and Metz. In 2025, he was featured by Ma3azef as one of the notable emerging voices in the Arab music scene.

Through his practice, Amro continues to push the boundaries of experimental electronic music while contributing to the development of independent and underground scenes in Egypt and beyond. His DJ sets translate this practice into high-intensity sonic journeys designed for both club spaces and experimental listening contexts.
