Abuelita

With cumbia at heart and drum and bass in her feet, Abuelita earned her musical education in the jungle and techstep underground scenes of Łódź, PL, while at the same time discovering the iconic Roots of Chica and spreading the word about cumbia among her friends.

Her sets are usually a mixture of various genres and BPMs but always fall into place and take you on a bass and break journey connecting raw oldschool UK sounds and modern Latin underground. The more breaks, the better — but if there's a chance to smuggle some cumbias here and there, Abuelita doesn't hesitate.

She plays at various venues, organises her own parties ("Girl, gimme a break!" / "La Cocina de Abuelita"), and has won a number of open calls in Poland. Besides sharing the music with the dancers, she supports festivals such as Audioferma (PL) and P.U.S.H. (IT), produces decorations for the local annual Noche de los Muertos party, and attends nearby events to support others on the scene.
