ABSTRUSE

ABSTRUSE is the artistic persona of a Puerto Rican DJ and producer who has dedicated over 15 years to building a unique sonic identity within drum & bass and experimental electronic music. His musical journey began in the underground, where he honed the ability to read a room intuitively and transform the energy of the dancefloor into a living organism. His performances balance technical precision with spontaneous improvisation, often pushing his sets into uncharted territory where the audience becomes part of the experiment.

His sound flows between the raw intensity of neurofunk, the cerebral space of minimal drum & bass, and the emotional resonance of jazz, reggae, rap, and alternative music. This wide spectrum of influences shapes a style that is both sophisticated and visceral. For ABSTRUSE, minimalism is not about stripping away, but about creating room for tension, detail, and emotional depth. Every set is a journey — unpredictable, textured, and designed to take listeners through phases of introspection and collective release. Having shared the stage with respected international artists and played countless underground events, ABSTRUSE has become a reference point in Puerto Rico’s electronic scene. Beyond the decks, his work as a producer and curator is expanding into new territories, with projects that seek to connect global drum & bass culture with local identity and underground resistance.
